Horseshoe Crab
Horseshoe Crabs live in the Tundra and the Rain Forest. The thing is that they are not really crabs. Like science says, they were living on earth over 350 million years ago, before the dinosaurs. Horseshoe Crabs are exactly like their ancient relatives and that's why they are called "living fossils." They are related to spiders, scorpions, and ticks. They look like little army tanks crawling along the beach.
Horseshoe Crabs spend the warm weather on shore and swim upside down. Raccoons and foxes are their predators. Their legs are really useful because they chew their food with the legs and give food to others with their leg too. These "crabs" look really scary, but do not worry, they can not sting, which means they are harmless. Female crabs can lay 80,000 eggs. They have 10 eyes and their blood is blue! Can you believe it! When you see their blood in the air, it is blue, but when you see it in the water their blood looks white.
Horseshoe crabs' blood are useful for medical tests and are used as medicines!
